May 2007

The “red tide” moved in and the water was filthy all month long. Not as many boats fishing in May but the guys that went out caught fish. Marlin are still being caught out past 40 miles. Sailfish and Dorado numbers were a little slow for May. Roosterfish and Snapper numbers were pretty good considering we had “red tide” all month.

June Fish Forecast -- Hopefully the “red tide” will completely move out and the fishing will return to normal for June. I expect the Tuna and Marlin bite to be good this month. I would expect the inshore bite to be good if the water clears up. The Sailfish and Dorado bite is always a question mark in the rainy season. I caught a dozen Sailfish before noon on a rainy day in June. You can also drag bait all day and see a couple fish.

Thanks for all the positive response to last months fishing report. Because it was a slow fish month I decided to rerun last months report in Spanish.

May Fish of the Month –– all of them

Give me a call or send an email with your fish story for the next “Costa Rica Fishing Report”.

Thanks,
